10 Things You Don’t Know About Me …

In perfect timing for the 1st Birthday of my blog, I’ve been nominated for a Liebster Award.

This is an award given out by Bloggers, to other Bloggers whose work they admire.

I was nominated by Emma who blogs about food & travel and also has a fab stationary shop! Thanks Emma 🙂

I’ve been given 10 questions to answer about me and my life, so that she and you can get to know me a bit better….. here we go!

  1. Where are you from? What about you shows where you’re from?

I was born in Oxford, UK and moved all around the country until the age of 11 when we settled in the Cotswolds. I moved to Cheltenham at the age of 18 and that’s where I consider to be my home town!

I guess what mostly shows where I’m from is that I don’t have any particular accent – I moved around so much growing up that I didn’t ever pick up a specific ‘local twang’ – I actually got bullied for sounding ‘posh’ when I was in primary school, but I think I swear far too much for anyone to ever say that now 😉

  1. If you could live anywhere in the world, where would it be?

Bali. No Australia. Actually maybe Thailand. Or Hawaii. Any Pacific Island. No probably Australia….. Somewhere exotic and warm with artistic and friendly people. My Raratonga bungalow would be perfect:

  1. What’s your favorite meal?

I’d probably have to go for curry with chips being a very close runner-up!

I could pretty much eat a curry at any time of day, every day and I love cooking them from scratch with fresh spices. I’m not very good with spicy food though so I tend to make them very flavoursome but mild!.

  1. Coffee or tea? What’s your favorite version (latte, flat white, jasmine tea, etc)?

Coffee – but nothing too strong or sour, so a cappuccino because I like licking the chocolate powder off the frothy bit!  I’m a caffeine addict, but coffee wimp.

I also like fresh, loose tea and I’m really loving Jasmine Green Tea and Rooibos (Red Bush) tea at the moment because it’s caffeine free so nice to have at night.

  1. What’s your dream job? Are you doing something right now that could get you there?

My dream job would be a ‘professional baby orangutan cuddler’, Author or Photographer.

I have cuddled and cared for an orangutan (blog coming soon), but I didn’t get paid for it – I do however get paid to write and to cuddle dogs who stay with me for holidays,  they’re usually snoozing at my feet whilst I copywrite ….. plus I get to ramble about my experiences of travel and stuff here, so I guess you could say I’m halfway there?!

  1. Ocean or mountains?

Ocean! Dolphins, whales, turtles, sharks ….. I’m lucky to have seen them all in the wild, unforgettable experiences and I find the power of and life below the sea truly incredible.

  1. What’s the best book you’ve read in the past month?

She Means Business by Carrie Green – a very down-to-earth British girl who has built a hugely successful business supporting female entrepreneurs. She’s very straight talking, this is no bullsh*t self-help book, it’s a practical but very inspiring read to help you work through your creative ideas and turn them into a workable business. She has a brilliant Facebook group too.

  1. What’s your favourite season? Why?

In England it’s Spring because the sun starts to shine and there are baby animals everywhere. In Spain it’s the beginning of winter as the sunsets in October & November are truly incredible.

  1. Would you rather own a home in your favourite place in the world or be able to travel nonstop? Tell us about what that would look like?

I do own a home in one of my favourite places in the world, on a small Spanish island and it’s a mixture of Spanish and Moroccan in style which I love… but the idea of travelling non-stop is certainly massively appealing.

When it comes down to it though, I’m a home bird and love to have a private escape from the world where I can have all my favourite things around me… PLUS I can’t be without animals in my life and that makes travelling non-stop an impossibility!

So yes, I would definitely rather own a home in my favourite place in the world – whether or not I’ve actually found that place yet is another question…

  1. If you could get a degree (or go back and get a different one), what would it be? Why?

I have a degree in Psychotherapy which was really interesting to study, but if I had my time again I would definitely do either a photography degree or, if I was clever enough, study Primatology and disappear off into the jungle……

This is Doris, you’ll be meeting her in a few weeks time…..

Thank you so much to all of you who have been reading my blogs over the past 12 months, it’s been so much fun – I’ve met some brilliant businesswomen who are brave and clever and own fantastic brands with great products and to get to do so much photography, which is one of my absolute favourite things, has been bloody brilliant!

Let’s see where the next year takes me and you all ….

So now I have to nominate!

Hi Girls, over to you:
