I’m a complete and utter magpie – anything sparkly and shiny I love, so I wear quite a lot of jewellery.
I love anything from delicate pieces layered up together, to big or chunky statement pieces. For more delicate layers I like to invest in sterling silver because it’s the kind of thing that’s timeless and you want the longevity in, but for more statement, fashion items I’ll happily buy budget and costume jewellery.
So here are some of my favourites, some new things I’m currently wearing the most and how I store everything!
For storage of my more delicate jewellery, I recently got a Stackers rose gold/marble stand and its perfect for those type of pieces because it spaces them out and stops them getting tangled up, plus you can see everything really clearly.
Something I really love about it is the marble base which actually has a box concealed within it, so if you lift the stand up it reveals a storage tray underneath and that’s really great for keeping earrings safely tucked away!
I was sent some jewellery by a company called Ineffibless just before Christmas and really love the items they very kindly let me choose.
I wear silver jewellery the most, but do have a few rose gold pieces as well and I love mixing metals together, so I went for a silver ring and bracelet, with a rose gold necklace.
All 3 pieces are quite delicate, but statement pieces in their own right – in that you can wear them individually with something really simple to show them off, but you can also layer them up with other jewellery.
The first item is a sparkly ring which I thought was really pretty, unusual and will sit well alongside other rings I already have:
It’s sterling silver coated in 18 carat white gold.
I also got a marble cone for my rings from the same company who make the rose gold stand and it shows off my new ring rather nicely!
My hot pink nails are ‘So What’ from the new Rockstar polish collection by LivOliv. (cruelty free & vegan)
My rose gold necklace is part of the Personalised Bar Necklaces Collection and I chose to have the word ‘believe’ engraved on it because I felt that for a lot of last year I needed to be stronger in keeping belief in myself, so it’s just a little reminder I guess…
….and then for my bracelet I went for an oval bangle because I have quite small wrists and hands and always find that round ones fall off! So I love it when I find pieces like this and really liked the style of this with the combination of a silver band crossing over the diamante one – plus it’s hinged so really easy to get on and off!
The bangle is also sterling silver and coated in 18 carat white gold.
I hadn’t heard of Ineffibless before they got in touch offering to send me some items so was unsure what to expect, but they are all lovely pieces, good quality and came in a cute box with a cleaning cloth – the only negative thing I would say is delivery took quite a long time.
For other jewellery, I have this little Hamsa dish which is where I put the things I take off at night, so whatever I’m currently wearing is usually there.
… and I also have a couple of little ceramic bowls I got in Morocco and Turkey. I keep one for ‘posh’ items and another for costume rings – and my watch which I never really wear any more because I always look at the time on my phone! That’s a bit sad really I should wear it.
I’ve also got these two little pinky rings which are sterling silver but coated in gold and they were the first thing I’d bought that was gold in years, I actually can’t even remember buying anything that wasn’t silver before that… and I like wearing them next to silver rings, so I think that’s what got me starting to mix metals.
As part of clearing my wardrobe out at the end of last year, I donated a lot of my costume jewellery because I had so many earrings and other things I didn’t really wear, so now I try to keep just my favourite items that I get the most use out of.
When I wear costume jewellery, I quite often wear really long necklaces so I have a larger jewellery stand which I keep all of those on – and it holds a real mismatch of velvet and cord chokers, big spangly statement necklaces, a few bracelets and my larger earrings too.
This is part of a two-piece necklace that you can wear separately or together and I love its art deco style.
These earrings were a present from a friend years ago and I don’t wear them often because they are so long, but they look so pretty just hanging there!
This is one of my favourite necklaces, I wear it loads and it’s often in flat lays on my Instagram – it just seems to go with everything and is the perfect length for pretty much any outfit.
Underneath that stand I have a Stackers jewellery box where I keep special momentos and keepsakes, pieces I don’t tend to wear day-to-day but mean something.
I have some original 1970s pieces my mum gave me, a brooch from my Gran, some charms and necklaces I’ve been given as gifts and things I’ve collected on my travels which aren’t really my style anymore but I don’t want to part with.
I’ve also got a vintage teacup and saucer I bought in a charity shop, which I glued together and use to hold earrings that don’t have a hook to go over the stand.
And this Tiffany necklace was a bit of a splurge when I was in New York a few years ago – I got matching earrings too but I never wear them because the hooks are so wide they’re painful to put in your ears! I keep thinking I ought to get them adjusted because it seems a waste not to wear them.
And I’ll quite happily hang jewellery on vases and things too! Around the top of that glass bottle is a gorgeous bracelet I was given by a friend when I graduated from my degree a few years ago – it’s super heavy to wear so I mainly use it as decoration!
So that’s my little tour through my collection of sparkly stuff – if you fancy some new jewellery storage that’s practical but also pretty, I highly recommend this Stackers range (not sponsored!!)
They have open mirrored metal boxes as well as other sizes of stands and marble boxes…
Also I really recommend visiting some charity shops as there are so many cute glass and ceramic dishes around, usually for just a couple of pounds!
