With the new year and a new site design I also have a new mood board-style of monthly post which will be about things that are currently inspiring me …
I really hope you enjoy it!

I’ve allowed January to be a little self-indulgent, in that I’ve set aside specific time for me to organise, de-clutter my life both physically and digitally and then to dream, ponder and plan some inspiring things for this year….

I’m so in love with my teddy bear coat! It’s super warm, but really lightweight and not too bulky, so it’s not as unflattering as some faux fur coats can be and I love the dusky shade of pink which goes with so many different colours. I’ve been wearing it with pretty much everything.
I’ve also worn this cosy star jumper non-stop and it looks fab with faux leather trousers … and who can resist some daytime metallics to brighten up the dull winter days? My silver bag is a winter staple.
Having said that, we’ve also had some beautiful, bright and crisp blue skies so I’ve also had to dig my shades back out!
I’ve been getting back into the habit of layering my jewellery up as lots of delicate sparkly pieces lift a more basic outfit so well – infact I just wrote a blog about it here.

Charlotte Tilbury Filmstar Bronze and Glow.
This is product is so good I literally want everyone I know who is a beauty lover to buy it!
I’ve been using this little gem daily and it was one of the first products I thought of putting into my 2017 beauty heroes post.
The slightly cool toned sculpting shade is the perfect colour to give a light contour without looking too strong or muddy and the highlight gives such a beautiful, natural sheen without looking glittery.
It’s one of those highlights that you aren’t sure is showing up much until the light catches you at the right angle and you realise you are shimmering away!

I’ve been loving this book by Elizabeth Gilbert who is the author of Eat Pray Love that was turned into the famous Julia Roberts movie. This isn’t fiction though, its a book all about creativity and how to embrace yours and let go of fear surrounding it.
I’ve actually been listening to the audiobook at night and her voice is very soothing so I’ve fallen asleep a number of times and keep having to re-play chapters – I feel like it’s taking me forever to finish it!
One thing that has really stuck with me was she says that creative ideas will only be there with you for a certain amount of time and if you think on them for too long, they will run out of energy and you will lose them… and I think this is so true! So many times I’ve had ideas for things that I’ve pondered over and over, wondering whether they are good enough – feeling fearful that they aren’t – and in the end the idea burns out, it feels exhausting and I let it go!
Elizabeth Gilbert basically asks anyone who feels the urge to create – whether that’s writing, painting playing music etc- to accept their creative inclinations and approach their creativity with openness and happiness rather than getting bogged down worrying about how they may be received and getting wrapped up in creative angst!
Try to let go of fears and just be free, to go with it, I guess is the overall message and also don’t feel as if you need specific recognition or accolades to live a creative life and call yourself a writer/artist/musician. Inspiring!

I’ve been obsessed with this series! I love the way it is filmed, the music that accompanies it and the story really captured me immediately. It’s about 8 people, all in different parts of the world with very different lives, who are psychologically connected, learn how to communicate with each other and transfer their skills into each other’s bodies to help each other.
Each character has a different story and drama to deal with but they end up having to unite against one person who threatens them all.
If you like anything psychological/sci-fi/action it’s well worth a look!

Time in the Shire…
The favourite thing I’ve done this month is to have a break away from everything in a little cottage in the forest. It was so refreshing to leave work and social media behind, sitting in front of an open fire listening to the sounds of nature. Its somewhere I would definitely like to go back to and I took loads of pictures which will be on the blog in two weeks time.

I was really surprised how much I’ve enjoyed having the super green powder each day and I do feel like it’s given me a bit of a boost! There’s more info about it in this blog post here – if you’re interested in upping your vegetable and nutrient intake, it’s a really easy way to do so.

My main goal for next month is to maintain the things I’ve been doing in this one?!
Things like having a monthly digital detox to keep the amount of images on my phone and computer to the minimum, planning my meals well so I’m eating healthily and also planning lots of fun things to go out and do as Spring approaches….
