Are Designer Sunglasses Worth It?

Finally its officially Summer and therefore sunglasses weather….. but in reality I use them all year round, so are they something worth investing a little more in?

I’ve tended to go for budget options in the past because I have a habit of breaking them …. however, about 10 yrs ago I splurged on a pair of D&G’s, on a whim whilst on holiday – and it changed my sunglasses game forever – because they’re still going!

They’ve literally been around world with me and then worn for 4 yrs non stop in very harsh Canarian sun.
In the end that’s what’s led to it being time for them to be replaced, because the lenses have faded…. but they have never broken – despite the amount of times I’ve dropped them onto marble, concrete and volcanic rock!

So I realised that maybe I wasn’t as careless with previous pairs as I thought, I was just buying cheap ones that weren’t made to last and then repeatedly replacing them….

It was with sadness that I’ve finally said goodbye to my trusty Dolce & Gabbana babies and hello to a very cute but classic pair of Chanels!

(And yes I don’t mind admitting that their case also brings me pleasure as it mimics one of their quilted bags that I will never be able to buy)…. and I think they make my budget Summer blazer outfit look far more expensive!

The frames and nice and thick to make a statement and I love the curves in the centre contrasted with the squared off edges.

I think if you invest in good-quality accessories, you can mix them up with budget wardrobe options like this blazer from Shein and your whole outfit looks more expensive – it’s the perfect pale, neutral shade for Summer and great for a light layer to dress up skinny jeans on a warm evening….

Just click any of my pics to shop it!

Officially I have an oval face, but sometimes I think it looks a bit round, so having the sharper corners of the glasses is more flattering.

I’ve worn the sunglasses non-stop since I got them and had fun playing around by the pool taking some pics of them!

I love those on you! I agree with you that if you’re going to splurge on a nice pair, go with something classic that you’ll love for years. I’m partial to aviators, but I always buy cheap versions of those because even if they’re not made with poor quality materials, they’re so wiry and thin that they tend to get bent.

I love that you found such a good investment piece, and they’ve lasted you for so long! This is something I wonder about all of the time – it’s great to have an endorsement for splurging!

I never had nice sunglasses until I started cycling and bought some Oakleys. They’ve lasted ages but are very bright so think I need some more ageless ones like yours. I love how wearing the Chanels makes your budget outfit look more expensive. Great photos as always and agree with Kate Batten, they do look very cool and trendy.
