Special Occasion Fashion

You could say this a fashion post with a bit of travel too this week …. and its definitely the favourite photo shoot I’ve done so far for the blog – a dreamy dress in a remote and special location.

To see where I’ve been and to browse some lovely wedding guest / Summer occasion fashion, keep reading!

About an hour north of my villa on the Canarian island of Lanzarote, overlooking the medieval town of Teguise, lies the mountainous area of Los Valles.

Up a long, rough track away fro the road and perched high on top of a mountain – so high that the closest other building to it is an astronomical observatory – you will find a tiny, picturesque Church standing alone, which probably boasts one of the most beautiful panoramic views on the island.

A special little church with a big history, the Ermita de las Nieves is only open once a year – on 5th August – when local people recreate the historical walks up the mountain ridges that farmers used to make, to worship and pray for rain for their crops in the coming season.

I love getting dressed up for a wedding or special party – its a great excuse to go all out with a full on glam outfit that you wouldn’t normally get to wear.

But that’s also the problem with finding something suitable, because so often you splash a load of cash on something you wouldn’t really wear again – or you think you will and then find it at the back of your wardrobe 2 years later! So I’ve tried to choose things I think can easily be worn again and again – and there’s still some great sale bargains around at the moment too.

I’m going to a very special wedding at the end of the Summer and I scoured the shops and internet before I settled on a dress.

There are lots of great things around this year, but finding the right combination of colour, style and shape can be a bit tricky.

(Can anyone tell me how to not pull a weird squinty face when having pictures taken in bright light please?!)

Being in the grounds of this church, although it was quite misty with clouds literally rolling past us because it’s so high up, the views were still amazing and I really could have stayed on top of that peaceful mountain, floating around in my pretty dress all day….

Shop my dress:

Here’s my pick of wedding guest outfits, for all budgets and in all sorts of styles and silhouettes to make you look and feel gorgeous… and items that you will be able to wear again and again.

Just click the pics to shop!

  • Summer Print.

Look both feminine and on trend by mixing Summer brights and accessorising this pretty dress with some hot orange or purple sandals and clutch. Alternatively metallics would look lovely too.

  • Maxi Glam.

Soft and feminine, a maxi dress never goes out of style and I love the different textures and sections of this dress, which is also the perfect nude/floral combination to be timeless.

  • Designer Details.

Be fashion forward but still refined with this asymetric, colour blocked midi and the sheer lace top section gives it that extra, occasion wear feel.

  • Super Pretty Jumpsuit.

The soft sheen of this silky fabric takes the average jumpsuit up a level for an event, whilst still being really wearable for the future.

  • Oriental Vibes.

The print and colours of this dress are beautiful and quite classic, but it’s shape makes it look really modern.

£160.00 in the sale

  •  Classic Fit & Flare with a modern twist.

This dress is so striking and such a flattering cut with the deep v neck and flared skirt.

  • Boho Glam.

You can still rock boho vibes with occasion wear, just keep your accessories quite simple to let the ruffles of this dress do the talking!

  • Sexy but Sophisticated.

With its slim fit, keyhole detail and side split, the high neck of this Oriental dress keeps it looking elegant.

HALF PRICE! Was £89.00, now £44.50

  • Romantic & Feminine.

Be a Princess for the day without competing with the Bride with a soft pastel, 50s vibe midi dress.

£36 instead of £120!

  • Short Flirty Floral.

Nowadays it’s perfectly acceptable to wear a shorter dress to a wedding and this would be so wearable for many other occasions.

  • On trend.

The jumpsuit has to be one of the most popular fashion items this year and this one is super affordable – I would wear a camisole underneath it for a wedding, with a smart black blazer and strappy heels.

  • Demure.

You can’t go wrong with lace at a wedding and navy is a colour that can be worn all year round – I would pair it with pastel accessories for the Summer and it will then be great later on for Xmas parties!

  • Sophisticated.

Super chic, I’m obsessed with the shape of this dress! It’s the kind of thing you could dress up or down in so many different ways.

  • Super flattering Skater.

With such pretty details, accessorise this dress with simple, nude heels and bag to keep your dress the main attraction.

QUICK! Now £28.00 instead of £95.00!

So that’s my pic of very wearable occasion outfits and I think all the items have pretty details to make you feel special on the day….

Speaking of pretty details, how gorgeous is the embroidery on my dress, I love how there are even cute bees on the flowers!

A big thank you to Lanzarote photographer @art_rach_ for not only taking these beautiful images, but for showing me the special shoot location up in the clouds.

You are divine! You asked about not squinting in the sun. Wearing sunglasses (you did that!) was my first suggestion. Second: Turn your head over your shoulder; have your photographer count to three; on “3” turn your head back with a big smile on your face. Usually, a photo can be snapped before you start to squint. Hope that helps!

That’s a gorgeous dress Tiffany. I love the church and the story behind it too. So is there someone there throughout the rest of the year or is it literally only occupied for the one day?
