Race Day Style with PrettyLittleThing

When I’m in the UK I live near Cheltenham in the Cotswolds and there’s a famous racecourse where the Gold Cup festival takes place in March.

When I worked for a Radio Station we used to take clients along for a day out with hospitality and what to wear was always a big deal as its a pretty glamorous event.

It’s also a popular time for friends to have a day out – especially on Ladies Day when lots of celebs go along and the race day fashion is featured in the national press.

PrettyLittleThing kindly offered to send me some outfits based around race day fashion, so I decided to style an outfit for each of the different race-going occasions – for work, for a girls day out and something glam ready to party in the evening – because if racing’s not your thing, the town really comes alive at night with lots of special music events.

As usual, click my pics or product web links to shop!

WORK:

For a daytime work outing I went for something quite classic but still on trend and that’s a blazer dress here.

With its nice big gold buttons, I styled the dress with a nude handbag that has gold detailing and a gold lariat necklace plus some nude sandals:

This is the kind of dress that could be worn for so many different occasions and I like the fact it has some shape to it, because some blazer dresses can be a bit ‘boxy’.

I think it would also look lovely with over the knee boots until warmer weather arrives in the UK!

In terms of sizing, the dress has a bit of a stretch to it and is cut fairly close to the body on the lower half, but it’s true to size.

GIRLS DAY OUT:

The next outfit I chose, with a girlie day in mind, was a kimono top, pleated skirt midi dress in a lovely bright red oriental print here.

Because of the bright colour and print I kept accessories to a minimum with a classic, patent black bag and some nice bright red sandals – because I’m just a bit obsessed with red at the moment!

This is another style of dress I think you would get a ton of wear out of and would work well day or night.

I love the flirty skirt that floats around as you walk and pleated skirts seem to have been on trend for well over a year now – I think they’ve become a wardrobe classic (blog coming on that subject next week!)

It’s a very feminine dress with a flattering silhouette for most body shapes.

The sizing was quite generous, so I would say you could go down one size with this dress, but because of the belt you can cinch it in at the waist if it’s a little loose.

PARTY:

For my final, evening outfit I chose a satin mini dress in a striking emerald green colour here.

I kept the neckline plain because of the deep plunge and added some sparkle with a pair of long, slim diamante earrings here ….

…and I used the same patent black bag as before, but without the strap, as a clutch here.

I was going to wear ankle boots with it but there was a really chilly wind blowing so I actually ended up wearing the dress with opaque tights and over the knee boots… but in the Summer it would also look gorgeous with some black or gold strappy high heels!

The satin wrap dress has no stretch and is true to size.

So those are the outfits I chose for Race Day Style with Pretty Little Thing – which one is your fave?

My favorite is the girls day dress – I’m completely obsessed with red as well! I’d also never considered wearing a blazer dress, but this one looks so great on you I may need to re-evaluate!

They’re all great to be honest and you always accesorize so well. If I had to choose I’d probably say the blazer dress, it fits so nicely and looks good for different occasions.
