Live by the Sun, Love by the Moon ☾ #festivalfashion

Festival season is here once again with Coachella kicking things off in Palm Springs a couple of weeks ago and I think it’s brilliant to be able to let your inner hippie loose and play around with some fun outfits …. but I do think you need to be careful with how far you push your fashion – to get a festival chic, rather than fancy dress, look.

I think it comes down to picking one main element of style and having fun with that, rather than going too over the top.

So here’s my suggestions of festival outfit options and plenty of shopping links as usual 😉

  • Mixed Prints.

My fave festival look – I love prints and mixing patterns anyway and festival fashion definitely suits a good print clash.

My one tip would be to try sticking to mixing smaller prints though, to avoid looking tacky…. and if you prefer something even more understated you can add patterns with just your bag and shoes.

I’m obsessed with this maxi skirt and think the copper stars work well mixed with the warm tone of some snake print boots:

The studded details on my backpack adds a bit more subtle pattern too:

… and finally, a good biker jacket! My go to type of jacket, no matter what time of the year or occasion, is pretty much always a faux leather biker – so when an Artist contacted me recently to see if I would like a personalised, hand painted leather jacket I of course said yes!

When I was a teenager I bought my first leather jacket and in striving to be individual, I had a go at painting the back of it – but it was nothing compared to the intricate designs Suzanne creates for her business Ophelia Rose Hand Painted here.

Looking the galleries of her work, she had lots of beautiful floral creations that I loved and then I thought about the fact that I’m rather obsessed with moons, so I suggested we try to combine the two somehow. She created lots of designs for me to choose from, we agreed a colour palette and this was the result!

Suzanne actually specialises in making bespoke bridal jackets, which I think is so cool for a personalised and individual wedding style vibe.

She uses a special leather paint that keeps the design flexible and long lasting so you can wear it for years to come after the big day – if you’d like more info on her and her designs, see further down this post or here!

What i’m wearing:

Here’s some prints i’m loving:

… or for just a pop of star pattern I’m obsessed with these boots here.

… or sparkle with some statement earrings here.

  • Flares.

Oh how I love 70’s fashion, especially a good pair of flares!

I’ll wear flared jeans anytime, but for festival outfits you can have extra fun with them and go for bold colours or animal print if you’re feeling brave…

  • Kimonos.

Great for layering, fling one of these beauties over some jeans, a simple cotton dress or some denim cut off shorts and you’re sorted!

  • Classic, simple Boho with lots of layered accessories

A simple white cotton dress keeps you cool and shows off your accessories.

Then layer up with plenty of sparkle and striking jewellery…

….. and speaking of sparkle, of course that’s one of the main fun parts of festival fashion …. my final style suggestion:

  • Glitter & Sequins!
